How Much Does Gutter Installation Cost in Texas?
In Texas, gutters are priced by the linear foot of roof edge, not by your roof's square footage. Seamless 5-inch aluminum runs $11 to $12 per foot installed and 6-inch runs $13 to $15.50, hidden hangers, sealed miters, and downspouts included. A typical single-story home needs about 150 to 200 feet, so most jobs land between roughly $1,700 and $3,500.

What Will New Gutters Cost You in Texas?
How much does gutter installation cost in Texas? Seamless 5-inch aluminum runs $11 to $12 per linear foot installed and 6-inch runs $13 to $15.50, downspouts included. A typical single-story home needs 150 to 200 feet, landing most jobs near $1,700 to $3,500.
Here is what each part of a gutter system costs before you spend a dollar. Read the "priced by" column first. Everything on a gutter job is measured by the linear foot of roof edge, not the square foot of roof.
*Updated August 2026. Texas residential pricing, per linear foot (never per square foot). Every ARP gutter install includes hidden hangers, sealed miters, downspouts, and a full flow test. Your number moves with 5-inch versus 6-inch, total roofline footage, how many downspouts your water load needs, and any rotted fascia we find behind the old gutters. Gutter cleaning on gutters you already own runs $2.00 to $4.00 per linear foot, see gutter cleaning for that separate, lower-cost service.*

Why Your Gutters Are Priced by the Linear Foot, Not the Square Foot
Your roof is quoted off its total square footage. Your gutters are not. They are quoted off the length of roof edge they run along, measured in linear feet. That trips up most homeowners, because they expect one big square-foot number to cover the whole job.
It makes sense once you see what a gutter does. A gutter is a channel bolted to the edge of your roof, so what matters is how much edge you have, not how much surface sits above it. Two homes with the same square footage can need very different gutter footage depending on how many rooflines, corners, and separate runs they carry. A long, simple ranch line is cheaper per house than a cut-up two-story with dormers and returns, even at the same per-foot rate.
That is also why a real number comes from measuring your house, not a formula. We walk the roofline, count the runs, check the fascia behind the old gutters, and price the actual footage. For how seamless runs get formed and sized in the first place, see our seamless gutter installation page.

What Moves Your Gutter Price Up or Down
Two homes rarely land at the same gutter number. Here is what moves yours, from the biggest lever to the smallest:
- 5-inch versus 6-inch. The single biggest driver. A 6-inch K-style carries roughly 40% more water and costs more per foot, but a steep, large, tile, or metal roof needs it to keep water off the fascia. On a standard shingle roofline, 5-inch usually does the job for less.
- Total roofline footage and complexity. More edge means more footage. More corners, dormers, and separate runs mean more sealed miters and setup, which nudges the per-house total up even at the same rate.
- How many downspouts your water load needs. Downspouts are already included in the per-foot install price. There is no separate line to multiply. A roof that sheds a lot of water fast simply needs more of them, and that shows up as a little more material in the measured quote.
- Leaf protection. Standard screens run $10 to $12 per foot and micro-mesh runs $13 to $18. Worth it under heavy trees, skippable on an open lot. Our gutter guards page walks through which type fits your trees and roof height.
- Rotted fascia behind the old gutters. New gutters on bad wood is money wasted, so we repair failed fascia first. How much you have sets how much that adds.

Do You Need Steel or Copper Gutters?
Seamless aluminum K-style is the standard for Texas homes because it carries the most water for the price, won't rust like steel, and won't grow brittle and crack in the heat like vinyl. Steel and copper gutters exist, but they're specialty materials: steel is heavier and can rust at the seams, and copper is a premium architectural finish that costs substantially more than aluminum. Both are quoted case by case rather than off a standard per-foot rate, so for the vast majority of homes the real material decision is 5-inch versus 6-inch aluminum, not aluminum versus copper.
Almost every Texas home is best served by seamless aluminum K-style, which is why our per-foot pricing above is built around it, and why you'll see "cost by material" answered differently than you might expect.
The color on an aluminum gutter is baked on at the factory, so it holds up under sustained Texas UV instead of chalking out in a few summers, and we match it to your trim. If you have a specific architectural reason to want copper (a historic home, a signature entry) say so at your measure and we'll price it honestly. For everyone else, the money is better spent getting the aluminum sized and hung right.

Gutter Replacement or Repair: Which Number Are You Facing?
Gutter repair runs a flat $495 to $1,295 per repair depending on scope: resealing a leaky miter, refastening a sagging run, or swapping a damaged length. A full seamless replacement runs $11 to $15.50 per foot for the whole roofline. Repair is the right call when the gutters are sized correctly and only a section has failed; replacement makes more sense when they're undersized, pulling off the fascia in multiple spots, or so old that patching one section just moves the next leak down the line.
Before you price a full replacement, it's worth knowing whether you actually need one. The cheaper path is real, but only when the bones are still good.
The honest test is whether the existing gutters were ever big enough for your roof. If they overflow in every hard rain, no amount of resealing fixes that. The gutter was undersized from day one, and you're paying to repair a system that will keep failing. If they're the right size and simply worn at a joint or two, a repair buys you years. If it's just debris backing them up, a straight gutter cleaning at $2 to $4 per foot may be all you need. A free measure sorts which of the three you're actually looking at.
One more timing note: the smartest moment to replace tired gutters is when you're already replacing the roof. The drip edge, fascia, and gutter all live on the same roof edge, so doing them together means one mobilization and no seam where old gutter meets new roof.
