Austin, Texas
Here's what a roof replacement actually costs across Austin and the Texas Hill Country edge — by material, in real installed dollars, with the scope on paper before tear-off.
When a roof reaches the end of its service life — brittle shingles, granule loss across whole planes, repeated leaks — a full tear-off beats patching. ARP delivers a written scope before demolition, so you know the materials, decking condition, and price first. Book your free Austin roof inspection.

When to Replace
A lot of Austin roofs are hitting the same wall at the same time, and that wall is where full replacement comes into our Austin residential roofing work. The 2000s-era subdivisions across Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Georgetown were shingled in the same building boom, and 20-year architectural shingles laid in that era are now aging out together. Add a heavy oak and pecan canopy — which shades whole roof planes, holds moisture on the north slopes, and abrades the surface with every limb that scrapes it — and the shaded side of the roof often wears out years before the sunny side.
The question homeowners wrestle with is tear-off versus re-cover. A re-cover lays new shingles over the old ones without removing anything. It is cheaper on paper, but it hides the decking you most need to see, adds weight your rafters were not sized for, and voids most manufacturer warranties on a roof that already failed once. ARP's default is a full tear-off down to the deck, because that is the only version of the job where we can inspect and price the whole system honestly rather than roof over a problem you will pay for twice.
That is also why the scope comes first. Before any demolition, you get a written document that names the shingle or metal system, the square footage, the flashing details, the permit handling, and the warranty that backs it. Documentation before demolition is not a formality — it is how you know what you are buying before the old roof is in the dumpster and the leverage is gone.
What a Full
You should never have to guess what "full replacement" covers. On an ARP job it means the whole system, deck to ridge:
Once the system is on, an ARP project manager oversees the install through every stage and registers your manufacturer warranty within 30 days of completion. If your decision is really about which shingle line to run, compare systems on our Austin shingle roofing page; if you are weighing a roof measured in decades, see Austin metal roofing. And if what you have is a single leak rather than a roof at end of life, start with Austin roof repair instead — a replacement is not always the answer.
Installed Cost
An architectural-shingle replacement on a typical Austin home runs about $14,000–$30,500 total. That range assumes a full tear-off, synthetic underlayment, new flashing, and permit handling; size, pitch, and material move it.
Updated August 2026 — Austin market pricing. Use the calculator to put a starting range on your own home, then a free on-roof assessment turns that into a firm number:
Where your roof lands depends on square footage, how steep and cut-up it is, and the system you choose. The table below spans from architectural shingle on the low end to premium standing-seam metal on the high end, with Class 4 impact-rated shingle sitting in the middle tier:
| Home size | Austin installed replacement (arch shingle → premium metal) |
|---|---|
| 1,500 sq ft | ~$14,000–$36,900 |
| 2,000 sq ft | ~$18,700–$49,200 |
| 2,500 sq ft | ~$23,300–$61,500 |
| 3,000 sq ft | ~$28,000–$73,800 |
What's included: every figure assumes a full tear-off, decking inspection, synthetic underlayment, new flashing, cleanup, and permit handling where required — not a bare re-cover. Class 4 impact-rated shingle upgrades sit mid-range; premium standing-seam metal tops it. Replacement Steps
Here is the whole job in three steps, so nothing about it is a surprise.
Estimate your Austin project
The honest answer is a range until someone measures your roof — anyone quoting a firm price over the phone is guessing. Move the estimator to price your own project against our 2026 Austin rates, then send it over and we'll confirm it on the roof.
| Material | Installed / sq ft | Texas lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Asphalt shingle | $5.25 to $11.13 | 15 to 22 years |
| Standing seam metal | $8.06 to $15.37 | 40 to 70 years |
| Stone-coated metal | $9.54 to $13.25 | 40 to 60 years |
| Concrete or clay tile | $10.60 to $15.90 | 30 to 50 years |
Read the units
Ranges are per square foot of actual roof area — the surface a crew installs, not your living-space square footage. Roof area runs roughly 1.3 to 1.7 times your living-space footage once the garage, overhangs and pitch are counted, so price off installed totals rather than multiplying house size by the per-foot rate.

Making it affordable
A new roof rarely arrives at a convenient time — and in today's economy, you likely don't want to drain your savings for one, especially when a Class 4 upgrade or an insurance deductible lands on top of the bill.
That's why we offer roof financing: if you qualify, you can put on the roof you actually want now and pay it off in manageable monthly payments instead of one large check. You don't have to drop to a cheaper material just to fit your budget, or wait out another hail season under a roof that's already failing.

The best way to judge any Austin contractor — us or anyone else — is to ask for a written scope, ask who your single point of contact is, and ask when the manufacturer warranty gets registered in your name. If a roofer can't answer those three plainly, that's your answer.
Yes — we're a match
No — we'll say so up front
We'd rather tell you that on the phone than waste a walkthrough.
No cost, no obligation
A free Austin roof inspection from ARP costs nothing whether or not you hire us. A project manager gets on the roof, photographs what they find, and leaves you a written condition report — including the honest verdict when your roof has good years left and needs nothing.
On a Austin home that usually means checking the south and west slopes first, because that's where our hail arrives and where granule loss and bruised mats show up a season before a ceiling stain does.
We check the flashing at every transition, the pipe boots that go brittle in Austin heat long before the shingles do, the ridge and hip caps, and the attic side for the daylight and moisture the roof surface hides.
From assessment to warranty
We measure your roof, photograph it, and document what's actually there — not a curbside guess. You get the photo set whether you hire us or not.
You'll see line-item scope, materials, warranty options, and a real number in writing. Nothing starts until you've read it.
A crew led by an ARP project manager does the work, pulls the Austin permit, and inspects at the key stages — then your manufacturer warranty registers in your name within 30 days.
No fee, no deposit, no pressure. We confirm your address is covered before we schedule — then a project manager walks the roof.
